A week of LEGO minifigure scanning in numbers: 13 million scans and counting…

LEGO Series 27 Minifigures has been on shelves for just over a week – and that means a week of using Brick Search’s best-ever minifigure scanner to find out what’s in the box. Here are the numbers behind seven days in the life of Brick Search, you guys…

Series 27 is the first LEGO Collectible Minifigures release since we upgraded our LEGO minifigure scanner as part of Brick Search Plus. Faster than ever and able to scan multiple boxes online or offline, the release of Series 27 CMFs was the first chance for all of you to get hands-on with this new, improved scanner.

How do the numbers stack up for this new era of the app? Well, the seven days between January 1 and January 8 saw a surge in downloads – 33,394 to be precise – as well as memberships and usage, with some fascinating insights found in the numbers.

LEGO minifigure scans day by day

January 1 – While a handful of locations had Series 27 minifigures available early, Wednesday January 1, 2025 was the first day they could be claimed in most of the rest of the world. But that was also, of course, New Year’s Day.

Not every LEGO Store or LEGO retailer was open, some LEGO fans were sleeping off their New Year’s Eve celebrations and, with the weekend just a few days away, some LEGO fans were happy to wait, safe in the knowledge that – armed with their trusty Brick Search minifigure scanner – they’d be able to get the minifigures they wanted in a few days’ time.

So while January 1 was a busy day for Brick Search, it would get a whole lot busier as the week went on.

January 1 scans: 615,532

January 2 – Maybe the hangovers cleared, maybe the pre-orders arrived – whatever the reason, use of Brick Search’s minifigure scanner exploded on January 2. The scramble to get the most-wanted Series 27 minifigures was well and truly on.

Brick Search’s LEGO minifigure scanner was used more than four times as much on January 2 than it was on January 1, skyrocketing to more than 2.5 million uses. Friday January 2 would prove to be the day with the most uses of our LEGO minifigure scanner.

Chris and Matthew from Brick Fanatics took Brick Search’s minifigure scanner with them to the Leeds LEGO Store, and had trouble finding the in-demand Wolfpack Beastmaster.

January 2 scans: 2,540,548

January 3 – The third day of January saw another day of more than 2 million scans on Brick Search’s LEGO minifigure scanner. That Wolfpack Beastmaster minifigure was still proving hard to find…

January 3 scans: 2,201,670

January 4 – The first Saturday after Series 27 minifigures were officially released was the busiest day of the first week of January for Brick Search in terms of users, and a close second in terms of use of our LEGO minifigure scanner.

January 4 scans: 2,462,976

January 5 – Sunday wasn’t quite a day of rest. There were still more than 1 million scans on Brick Search’s LEGO minifigure scanner – around half of the day before, but twice as many as January 1. The hunt for Series 27 minifigures was evidently still on.

January 5 scans: 1,297,458

January 6 – New week, same story – still more than 1 million scans on Brick Search’s LEGO minifigure scanner, and slightly up from Sunday. Shouldn’t you people have been at work?

January 6 scans: 1,286,400

January 7 – Uses of Brick Search’s minifigure scanner crept up a little on Tuesday, back to 1.4 million. That’s more than a million Series 27 minifigure boxes having their contents revealed as if by magic.

January 7 scans: 1,500,594

January 8 – And so we come to the end of the first week of LEGO Series 27 minifigure hunting. Another 1.7 million scans took place on Wednesday as LEGO fans around the world continued to search for the Series 27 minifigures they wanted.

January 8 scans: 1,732,840

In total…

Total scans on Brick Search’s LEGO minifigure scanner, January 1–8: 13,738,018

Number of Brick Search users, January 1–8: 80,526

That works out at, on average, 1,717,252 minifigures scanned a day, and 11,503 users scanning 149 minifigure boxes each!
